Have you joined LinkedIn and put up a nice profile pic and your skills from any previous jobs?
Have you talked to anyone career services (NOT including your school guidance counselor)?
Have you connected with any recruiters? Or career coach/consultants? Or followed any job connection companies?
Have you an idea or hint what you might want to do? “If I could be anything, no limits, I’d want to…”
Have you attended any job zoom/real life events?
Have you done any skills assessments to know how your skills transfer to other jobs?
If not, there’s your to do list!
What about doing X thing I've heard I should do?
Here’s the things not to do:
Applying for jobs through the standard job boards. Go to the company websites instead and apply via their job/careers page.
Worrying about the format of your resume and constantly changing the style. Recruiters don’t care! Just have A format and that’s all you need!
Worrying about your lack of skills. Many recruiters hire zero skilled people!
Think you’re screwed because you failed school, or got fired from places, or have a felony. These things don’t matter in most western countries. Some recruiters and companies hire people who specifically have issues like that!
There is not one person who can’t get a job. There is hope for everyone, period. Doubt me on that? Well, send me an email at the Contact Me page and I’ll be happy to listen to your story!
